Our Outside the Box Homeschooler’s Stay & Play group was born out of two things: 1) my friend and I simultaneously deciding to homeschool and 2) our families’ deep abiding love relationship with art and games. On the gaming end, for many years we have used games to bring my children’s friends together for an easy way to build social skills and have fun. Growing up, games were always a big part of family gatherings, where after dinner we would break out the Trivial Pursuit or Pictionary. Over the years, we have amassed quite a collection of games, both video games and table top games.
Now I will unabashedly and shamelessly promote my husband’s new blog on the Herald News called Serious Play. Without him, I would never have been plunged quite so deeply and joyously into game culture. Please read his blog for some great in-depth advice about games and their affect on the world around us.
