Field Trip: RISD Film Animation & Video Labs

As part of our DIY Club Animator Badge, we took a field trip to the Rhode Island School of Design’s FAV Labs with Professor Dennis Hlynsky.

Professor Hlynsky took time out of his incredibly busy schedule, even though they were in the middle of moving offices, to meet the kids and take us through the different studios where the students at RISD learn and practice animation.  We learned about onion-skinning and about some of the equipment that is used for animation.

We saw where the students do green-screen techniques and where they set up their stop-motion projects. We saw some samples of student work and our aspiring young animators were properly inspired!September3
